Hornets Get Younger
The 12U hornets have moved on to greener pastures. They have now become The Loose Cannons coached by Rick DuBose. They will be playing out of the Affton Athletic Association. A link to their webpage will be coming in the near future.
So a 10U team has picked up The Hornets mantle and will be playing in the St. Louis County Association. Their home field will be played out of the Fenton Athletic Association. We look forward to continuing the excellence in team play set by the former team.

End of 2012 Sping Season
The team finished 6-7-1 on the season. Way to finish strong. After the bad start we saw a lot of improvement. Good season everyone. Hope you all learned something along the way. I know I did. Big thanks to all our parents and the coaching staff.

Hitting the home stretch!!
Two games left in the spring season. The boys have come so far and I know I speak for Rick also in saying that each and every boy holds a place in our hearts.
Before this season is over I want to send out a big thank you to Coach Rick, Coach Chris and Coach Greg for all thier hard work in bringing these boys to the level they are at now. I know Rick has even spent a lot of time with some of the boys away from the organized practices to make them better players. His passion and knowledge of the game is invaluable. I can sincerly say that he was a gift from God to this team. Coach Chris has done very good things with the pitching staff and the boys really listen to him. Coach Greg has taken over the moving of players from me so I can concentrate more on my coaching duties at third base. He has done a great job and I have not heard one boy complain about his playing time. Fantastic job. I feel this team has been blessed overall
.
Our parents are the best I have ever worked with. None have interfered with the team and have accepted and support the decisions made by the coaching staff. You have all asked what it will take to make your boys better and that's all we can ask for. Some have stepped up in terms of organizing fund raising and spirit wear and to that I say a big THANK YOU.
Now down to business! We have two games left. We are going to win both to finish the season at .500. Even though they now know they are a much better team than 7-7. Great job guys.

What A Big Weekend.
Friday started with a bang. The team had a double -header against The Spartans. Game one went to the Spartans. Hitting still remains to be the problem with the team. Final score 11-5.
Bright Spots:
Game 1
Mother's Day Tournament
After a late night Friday, the boys had to be back playing baseball at 8:30 in Ballwin. Another double -header. Not one complaint from any of the boys. They all looked forward to playing in the games.
Game 1
Logan started the game against the O'Fallon Bomber's. It was a good game, but would have been closer. We lost a lot of runners on the bases. We finished the game very proud of the way the boys played and were pleased to see that they had elevated their game. It was the best the boys had played so far all year, so far.....
Game 2
Travis started game 2 against the St. Louis Wild Dogs. This team had boys so big, they looked like they woke up that morning, showered, shaved and then drove themselves to the game. We played a clean game but they just toyed with us. We found out later the coach was telling the boys which field to hit to when they went up to bat. It was like they we playing slow pitch softball against us. So we took out hard throwing Travis and put in our soft tosser, Trevor, thinking this would mess them up. Nope. Didn't work. The game was over in 3 innings with a final of 17-1.
Game 3
Sunday was a bright new day and the boys knew they were playing well, even after the thumping. They went into Sundays game against the O'Fallon Bombers (yes, the team we played the day before) with the hope we could pull off at least one win. We started hot. Lead-off hitter, Trevor, lined a double over the right fielders head. After two innings we were tied 3-3. In the bottom of the second, Chase threw a BB from left field to home to nail a runner at the plate. IT was a perfect throw. At this point The Bombers knew they were facing a different team than they faced the day before. They put in their best pitcher and shut us down. Final 9-3
I think the boys did fantastic. I know they fell better about themselves and they saw the potential they have with the way they played and the the way our competition played. I expect a different team to play against the Spartans than what we have seen so far.
We still went 0-3 in the tourny, but all the coaches are extremely proud of the level the rose to. Boys, great job!
Bright Spots:
Game 1
- We saw for the first time a battery of Nick-Chase. Nick pitched well giving up 4 runs in 4 innings. But relief could not hold the Spartans.
- Charles hit his first home run of the year. A deep moon shot to left center field.
- Chase did a great job catching
- Chase pitched very well. Pitching 4 innings while giving up only 2 runs.
- The bats finally came alive. Charles home run may have been the ignition. The boys scored 17 runs and won 17-2. Great job!

Teams Best Effort So Far
Good News: The boys played very well last night for 5 innings.
Bad News: The game lasted 6 innings
I would like to apologize for the behavior exhibited by us coaches last night. We have to remember that this is a recreational team and not a select team. The emotions I saw on the players faces last night after the game disheartened me. We have to remember that the boys signed up for baseball to have fun. They left that game last night not feeling that they had fun, which defeats our purpose as coaches. We want the boys to be focused on their mission, but also to enjoy the game. It can be a very tough line to walk sometimes. We will do better.
The game was exciting and there were some really, really good things that happened. A good pitching performance from Trevor went to the wayside with errors in crucial situations and lack of hitting. Chase's at bat was awesome to watch. He kept fouling balls off until he put it in play enough to get the boy home from third. Very exciting to watch. Brayden had a good game behind the plate. Throwing out runners? It's not often runners get thrown out at this age, but he was able to do it. And the play at the plate, with Brayden and Trevor, to get the runner scoring was HUGE, I can point out a lot of great plays last night. Even though we lost, it was a step in the right direction. They played much better than they did the first two games, and deserved better.
We are still disappointed that the boys are not hitting better. It is something we will be focusing on the next few practices. We know the boys are good hitters (they hit great in the cages) and one game it is going to come out. The Bullets starting pitcher was good, but this is going to be the typical pitcher we will face as we try to climb to be better. The hitters showed some sign of hitting against the Bullets second pitcher, but it wasn't enough.
We also had a situation during the handshake after the game. One of our players, instead of saying "good game", repeated "lucky" as he passed each Bullets player. It is not important which player did this, because the philosophy of this team is "negative action by one player results in entire team discipline". This will be handled at our practices until the message get through that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
Final note: Please, as parents, have patience with this team as a whole. We have talent everywhere and it is just a matter of the coaches and players coming together to play as one, not as individuals. Things will get better, I promise.
